Shirley Ann McDaniel, 80, Lyndon: Dec. 25, 1937 – May 14, 2018

LYNDON, Kan. – Shirley Ann McDaniel, 80, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018, at her home of 54 years in Lyndon, Kan., after a brave three-year battle against cancer. She was born on Dec. 25, 1937, in Vassar, Kan., the daughter of John and Hazel Beatty Christesen.

Shirley graduated from Towanda (Kan.) High School in 1957, and attended Emporia State University, Emporia, Kan. She spent her time supporting her family, being a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.

On Dec. 9, 1960, Shirley was married to James McDaniel, in Wichita, Kan.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hazel.

Shirley is survived by her husband, James, of the home; her four children, Darin McDaniel, Lawrence, Kan., Ruffin McDaniel and Shelly Jensen, Topeka, Kan., Tobin McDaniel, Lawrence, and Reghan (John) Cloudman, Timnath, Colo.; three grandchildren, Logan and Rhett McDaniel and Paige Cloudman, that she deeply loved; and her sister, Sharon Jarmer, Garden City, Kan.

A private family graveside service will be held at Lyndon Cemetery. A celebration of life reception for friends and family will be 2-4 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at the Lyndon United Methodist Church, 126 W. Eighth St.
