OCPR Update: Summer is here, cool off at Osage City Aquatic Center

OCPR-logo-redWhere better to be on a hot summer day than the Osage City Aquatic Center? Osage City Parks and Recreation makes it easy to find a reason to come cool off at the pool. In addition to swim lessons and water aerobics, OCPR is also getting ready for gymnastics camp through the month of July.


Red Cross Swim Lessons

Session Two, July 9-19

  • 9-9:45 a.m., Level 1 (Must be 6 yrs old)
  • 10-10:45 a.m., Pre-School, Level 3, Level 4
  • 11-11:45 a.m., Pre-School, Level 2, Guard Start
  • 12-12:30 p.m., Parent Tot (6 mon-2 Yrs)

Signup deadline, July 2. Cost is $25 per swimmer per session

Private Lessons

  • Session 1, June 11-15, a.m. only
  • Session 2, July 2-6, a.m. only
  • OCAC staff will contact you about a time during the session selected.
  • Other times may be available (Contact OCAC)
  • $40 per week (one week equals five 30-minute lessons)
  • Contact OCAC (starting May 26) to signup
  • Pre-school sessions, pre-k swimmers (Age 3-5) will be evaluated their first session and then placed in the appropriate group.
  • A minimum of 4 swimmers is needed for a class to make.
  • Swim lessons are Monday-Thursday ONLY
  • Friday will be used as a make-up day as needed.
  • Lessons will not be held if the air temperature is below 70 degrees.

Group Swim Lessons

Group swim lesson forms are available online at www.osagecity.com, at the Osage City Facebook page (photos section), Osage City Hall, and at OCAC.

Osage City Aquatic Center

  • OCAC pool hours: May 26-August 5, Monday-Friday, 1-7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 1-6 p.m.
  • August 6 – Labor Day, Saturday and Sunday, 1-6 p.m. (includes Labor Day).
  • Daily admission, $3 (age 4 and above); age 3 and below free; age 65 and over free.

OCAC Swim Pass Booklets

  • Swim booklets can be purchased at OCAC – 50 Swim Card Booklet, $50.
  • Deck and pool rental reservation can be made by contacting OCAC, 785-528-4225.

Water Aerobics

Instructor, Marcy DeWitt

  • Osage City Aquatics Center
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7-8 p.m., week of June 4 through the week of July 30.
  • $3 per class or 1 swim card.

Gymnastics Camps

Instructor, Danielle Hallgren

  • Camp location – OCPR Building, Jones Park.
  • A child’s grade is based on their grade for the 2018-2019 school year.
  • Stretching, gymnastic skills and technique, games, and safe equipment.
  • No shoes or socks on the equipment; bare feet during class.
  • T-shirt tucked in or a shirt that stays down while upside down.

Pre-School Group (Age 4 & 5)

  • Mondays, July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, 5:30-6 p.m.
  • $25 per student
  • Limit 5 students per age group
  • Must be 4 by the start of class

Levels are based on gymnastics skill. Danielle will place students at their preferred level. Level requirements are posted on Dani’s Gymnastics Facebook page. $50 per student in Level One, Two, or Three.

  • Level One – Mondays, July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; 6-7 p.m.
  • Level Two – Tuesdays, July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31; 5-6 p.m.
  • Level Three – Tuesdays, July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31; 6-7 p.m.
