Emporia Community Foundation opens grant application period, deadline Oct. 1

The Emporia Community Foundation is now accepting grant applications for the 2019 grant cycle. The ECF grants committee makes grants for innovative projects and programs that are responsive to changing community needs in the areas of health, social service, education, recreation, and cultural affairs.

The 2019 grant period will begin with applications being accepted during the month of September. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2018. Recipients will be announced in December and disbursements will be made in January 2019.

In January 2018, ECF awarded $24,833.46 to six area organizations. Grant recipients, along with their planned activities and award amounts, were: Coffey County Library, Lebo Branch, the purchase of a commercial snow cone and cotton candy machines, $1,526; William Allen White Foundation/KU Endowment funds to assist with the production of a film about William Allen White, $4,500; Kansas Legal Services, Emporia, funds to purchase two-in-one computers for use in court proceedings and hearings, $3,843; Plumb Place, funds for the upgrades to the resource room and offices, $6,964.46; Lyon County Fair Board, funds to assist pouring concrete in the show arena, $6,000; and The Madison Historical Society, funding to add visual displays in the museum, $2,000.
