Local help agencies plan bountiful Thanksgiving and Christmas for all

Osage County assistance organizations are collaborating on Thanksgiving and Christmas programs to help out those in need during the holidays.

Ecumenical Christian Action Team, East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corporation, and Help House will offer Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to families, along with hosting children’s and parents’ Christmas shopping stores.

ECAT will sponsor Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for families and individuals that live in USD 420. Applications will be taken 1-3:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, Oct. 8-19, 2018. Applicants must provide proof of income for everyone in the household and proof of residency. For more information, call 785-528-8164.

Help House has 108 baskets available this year, on a first come, first serve basis. Signup begins Oct. 1. Help House’s Children’s Christmas Store will be on Dec. 8; parents’ shopping days are Dec. 10-14; other shopping days for grandparents and individuals, will be Dec. 17-21.

Anyone wanting to make donations for the Christmas store should call Help House at 785-828-4888. Needed are food, personal care items, diapers especially sizes 3 and 4, hygiene items, and cleaning supplies.

For the ECKAN Christmas bureau, application dates are Oct. 23, 24, 30, and Nov. 1, 6, 8. Applicants must provide proof of income for everyone in the household and proof of residency. For more information or anyone wanting to adopt a family, call ECKAN at Osage City at 785-528-5184.
