MaryRee Miller, 85, Melvern: Nov. 3, 1933 – Dec. 1, 2018

MELVERN, Kan. – MaryRee Miller, 85, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at Atria Hearthstone, Topeka, Kan. She was born on Nov. 3, 1933, on the family farm east of Melvern, Kan., the daughter of Crayton and Mabel Heilman Hotchkiss.

MaryRee had lived all of her life in the Melvern community, and had lived in Topeka for the last eight months.

MaryRee was a homemaker, and had owned Miller Lumber with her husband, Gerald, in Melvern. She was a member of the Melvern United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

MaryRee was married to Gerald “Burley” Miller on Oct. 21, 1950, in Melvern.

MaryRee was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, on May 4, 1992; and her son, James Dean Miller, on June 22, 1991.

MaryRee is survived by her son, Michael (Jill) Miller Sr., of Topeka; her daughter, Lee Ann (Richard) Freed, Topeka; six grandchildren, Michael Jr., Crystal, Megan, Jason, Jake and Angel; and three great-grandchildren, Ziva, Di’on and Cody.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon. Inurnment will be at a later date at Pleasant View Cemetery, east of Melvern.
