Dorothy Evarts, 89, Scranton: Jan. 28, 1929 – Jan. 21, 2019

SCRANTON, Kan. – Dorothy Evarts, 89, passed away on Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook, Kan. She was born on Jan. 28, 1929, in Sparks, Ga., the daughter of Leonard and Jewell Hunter Lott.

Dorothy grew up in Georgia and had lived in Scranton since 1957.

Dorothy was a homemaker and her hobbies were quilting, gardening, canning, cooking Southern food and spoiling her nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

On April 18, 1957, Dorothy was married to Rollo Evarts, in Adel, Ga.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Jewell; four brothers, JW Lott, LR Lott, Melvin Lott and Hardy Lott; a sister, Doris Freeman; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Florance.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Rollo, of the home; five children, Linda Michael, of Scranton, Lora (Kevin) Florance, Scranton, Phillip Evarts, Scranton, Lovella Long, Carbondale, Kan., and David (Tammy) Evarts, Topeka, Kan.; five brothers, Howard Lott, Emory Lott, Artis Lott, Roger Lott, and Ronald Lott; two sisters, Beth Rogers and Joann Wright; and nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship, 430 Commercial St., Carbondale. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in the Scranton Cemetery.
