Earnest Wheeler, 83, Osage City: June 29, 1935 – Jan. 24, 2019

OSAGE CITY, Kan. – Earnest Wheeler, 83, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, at Osage Nursing Center, Osage City, Kan. He was born on June 29, 1935, in Guthrie, Okla., the son of Henry and Ethel Casey Wheeler Sr.

Earnest lived in Arkansas City, Kan., for many years and had lived in Osage City since 1997. Earnest worked as a mechanic for General Electric Aircraft, in Arkansas City. He was a member of the Salt Creek Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, in Lyndon, Kan.

On Jan. 26, 1959, Ernest was married to Sue Hix in Stillwater, Okla.

Earnest was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ethel; three brothers, Henry Wheeler Jr., D.L. Wheeler and E.J. Wheeler; and a sister, Inez.

Earnest is survived by his wife, Sue, of 60 years; four sons, Marvin Tilford and wife, Ingrid, of Missouri, Ernest Tilford and wife, Linda, of Missouri, James Wheeler and wife, Lucille, Arkansas City, and Michael Wheeler, Olathe, Kan.; two daughters, Joy Casiano and husband, Joe, Osage City, and Kathryn Lemke and husband, Herb, of North Carolina; brother, Bob Wheeler; sister, Lena Klopenstein; and nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at the Salt Creek Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, 211 Topeka Ave., Lyndon.
