Janet Douglas, 83, Osage City: Nov. 17, 1935 – May 2, 2019

OSAGE CITY, Kan. – Janet Douglas, 83, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Osage Nursing Center, Osage City, Kan. She was born on Nov. 17, 1935, in Augusta, Kan., the daughter of Glenn and Bessie Richie Markley.

Janet grew up in Augusta and had lived in Neodesha and Emporia, Kan., before moving to Osage City in 1987.

Janet was a home economics teacher at Neodesha for several years. She was also a substitute teacher and para educator, and had taught night classes at Allen County Community College. She was very active in Girl Scouts, attended the Baptist church, where she taught Sunday School and played the piano.

On June 11, 1961, Janet was married to Larry Douglas, in Augusta, Kan.

Janet is survived by her husband, Larry, of the home; her three daughters, Janette (Joe) Dreier, of Olpe, Kan., Paula (Robert) Tomlinson, Osage City, and Debbie Douglas, Wichita, Kan.; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 6, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Neodesha City Cemetery at 3 p.m. Monday.
