Osage County Senior Center: Activity, skills and fun featured at your center

By Tammy Fager, Senior Center Director

We would like to encourage any and all seniors to come to the Osage County Senior Center. We have daily activities and would like to hear from anyone about adding activities.

A typical week of activities at the senior center: On Mondays at 8 a.m. the “Crazy Sewing Ladies” welcome anyone interested in helping them with quilting or if someone would like to learn how to sew.

Exercise is at 11 a.m. Right now it’s with the TV, but if we could get some more interest or anyone interested in teaching an exercise class for seniors, some with limited abilities, that would be great. Cribbage is at 12:15 p.m. after lunch, then pitch and snacks at 5:30 p.m.

On Tuesdays, ceramics is at 9 a.m.; Mexican Train games and snacks at 12:30 p.m.

Wednesdays have about the same schedule as Mondays, with the Threads around the Table at 1 p.m. These ladies work on their own projects such as knitting, crocheting or needlepoint. If you would like to join in, or learn how to do one of these, please join them, they are great teachers.

Thursdays feature pool at 1 p.m. We are just starting this and are most definitely rusty. Come on down and join in the fun.

Friday is bingo day, 10-11:30 a.m. Bring a small gift bag no more than $5 and everyone wins. First winner picks a bag, then second and so on. At the end, the person with the most bingos wins a bag, and then last game is black out and they win a bag. It’s a lot of fun and crazy.

Stop in at 604 Market St. in Osage City, and have a cup of coffee or tea with us, we’d love to see you. For more information, call the center at 785-528-1170.
