Opal Zetmeir, 100, Osage City: Feb. 19, 1919 – Aug. 5, 2019

OSAGE CITY, Kan. – Opal Zetmeir, 100, passed away on Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka, Kan. She was born on Feb. 19, 1919, near Olivet, Kan., the daughter of Homer and Bertha Criqui Allison.

Opal grew up near Olivet, lived around the Melvern Lake area, and then lived many years east of Osage City. Opal had worked as a riveter at Boeing in Wichita, Kan., during World War II, and was then a homemaker most of her life. She attended the United Methodist Church.

Opal was married to Joseph Zetmeir Jr., in 1939, in Topeka, Kan.

Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in June of 1989; her parents, Homer and Bertha; and two brothers, Ewing Allison and Gerald Allison.

She is survived by her son, Dale Zetmeir, of Hilliard, Fla.; her daughter, Janice Brandenburgh of Scranton; her sister, Norma Badgley Tiller of Topeka; three grandchildren, Chad Brandenburgh, Kimberly Turner and Brady Zetmeir; five great-grandchildren, Chance Reaves, Autumn Reaves, Emilee Zetmeir, Joseph Zetmeir and Sam Zetmeir; and three great-grandchildren, Riley Reaves, Elliott Reaves and Dupree Landry.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. Burial will be in the Alpine Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
