Spectators enjoy summer evening at Osage City fair parade

Cathryn Houghton, longtime Osage City supporter, was the grand marshal of the Osage City Chamber of Commerce fair parade held Thursday night. As the honored parade dignitary, Houghton rode in the parade in a convertible driven by Steve White. Parade float winners, portraying the theme of “Songs of Summer”, were local 4-Hers, first place and a $75 prize, Osage Nursing Center, second place, $50, and the Forbidden Farm, a group of neighbors in Osage City that host an annual “haunted” barn at Halloween, third place, $25. The fair continues Friday with a talent show and fireworks, and Saturday with livestock judging, cowboy olympics, and 4-H livestock sale.

Spooks and zombies escaped from Osage City’s Forbidden Farm to howl during the Osage City Chamber of Commerce fair parade, and reminded spectators that it’s only 111 days until Halloween. Their float took third place in the parade.
