Carbondale festival celebrates end of summer

Carbondale will celebrate the coming of fall with the annual Carbondale Fall Festival, Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019. The festival features a vehicle show and cruise parade on Kansas Avenue, children’s parade, bounce houses, and finish up with live music and a dance in Carbondale City Park

Here is Saturday’s schedule:

  • 3-6 p.m. – Vehicle show and cruise on Kansas Avenue (cars, trucks, tractors, bikes, etc.) (785-492-3911 for information, Beth Knaup). No Entry Fee, display your “toy”. Cruise will lead parade at 6 starting at North Kansas to Main Street.
  • 3 p.m. – Vendors and business displays, set up 2:30; vendor information mev56b87@gmail.com.
  • 3:15 p.m. – Children’s parade, staging at 3:15, in (south) City Park; pre-registration 785-836-7887, reserves participants a small gift. Walk ups are welcome.
  • 3:30-7:30 p.m. – Bouncers, obstacles, slides, games; ticket or unlimited wristbands; assorted inflatable options for toddler to adult; $1 per time; $10 wristband.
  • 4-6 p.m. – Farmers market, registration $10, information email mev56b87@gmail.com.
  • 4:30-7:30 p.m. Carbondale Police Department display; family and youth-adult information, safety items, drawings.
  • 5 p.m. – Lions funnel cakes (available all evening); benefit Santa Fe Trail HS Scholarship Fund.
  • 6 p.m. – Cruise parade; staging begins at 5:30. Check in and line up at north tree line of City Park. Parade route: Kansas Avenue and Lawrence, south to Main Street. Viewing available on west side of City Park.
  • 6:50 p.m. – Color dash; registration 6:30-6:45; $10, includes four color stations; benefits Santa Fe Trail High School KAY Club.
  • 7:30 p.m. – Color throw; $3 per color packet; inside designated area only.
  • 7- 11 p.m. – Live music and dance in the park to the Delta Haze Band.
