Chip and seal project on K-31 scheduled to begin Friday … or Monday?

A chip and seal project is scheduled to begin either Friday, Sept. 13, or Monday, Sept. 16, 2019, on state Highway 31 in Osage County, the Kansas Department of Transportation reported.

The project extends mile marker 10.09 at the Lyon-Osage County line east to mile marker 16.0 at the K-31/Dacotah Street intersection in Burlingame. The project is expected to take two days, weather permitting.

The contractor anticipates starting the project on Friday, with completion on Saturday. However, if the project does not start this weekend it will begin Monday with anticipated completion on Tuesday, weather permitting.

One-lane traffic will be controlled by a pilot car. Motorists should expect delays of up to 15 minutes and should add extra time to their travel schedules.

Vance Brothers Inc., of Kansas City, Mo., is the contractor on the $123,000 project.
