Frank J. Austin, 74, Elgin, Okla.: Oct. 29, 1945 – Nov. 6, 2019

ELGIN, Okla. – Frank J. Austin, 74, of Elgin, Okla., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, at his son’s home in Osage City, Kan. Frank James Austin was born Oct. 29, 1945, in Greensville, N.C., the son of George L. and Ada A. (Arnold) Austin.

Frank proudly retired from U.S. Army after approximately 21 years of service. After military career, he was a truck driver for many years.

Frank is survived by his wife, Giavonna “Joan” Austin, of Elgin; two daughters, Sandra (David) Shreve, of Oregon, and Stella Stanton, Lawton, Okla.; four sons, Frank Austin Jr., Pahrump, Nev., Richard (Gail) Stanton, Fletcher, Okla., Mark (Sarah) Stanton, Choctaw, Okla., and Patrick (Carlene) Austin, Osage City; a sister, Sandra J. Urmanski, Ogden, Utah; a brother, George B. Austin, Vancouver, Wash.; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Pamela Schmouss.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home, Lebo. Family will receive friends an hour before service. Military honors and burial will be at 11 a.m. Nov, 13, at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kan.
