Emporia organization receives grant for Osage County victim support

TOPEKA-An Emporia-based organization was awarded a grant to continue its services to Osage County, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt announced today.

SOS Inc. was awarded $29,557 to support a victim advocate to serve domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking victims in Osage County.

“Victim services are needed in the rural areas of our state,” Schmidt said. “This grant will help provide these services in Osage County.”

The grant is part of the Federal Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program and was awarded by the Kansas Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. Schmidt serves as the chair of the council.
