Jose Pagan, 84, Overbrook: Jan. 25, 1936 – Feb. 9, 2020

OVERBROOK, Kan. – Jose Pagan, 84, of Overbrook, Kan., passed away Feb. 9, 2020, at his home. He was born Jan. 25, 1936, in Ciales, Puerto Rico, the son of Jose Pagan and Consuelo Pagan.

Jose grew up in Puerto Rico, graduating from Ciales High School. Jose served his country in the United States Army from June 1955 to November 1962 attaining the rank of private 2nd class. During his military service Jose was a kitchen supervisor, eventually serving in Fort Riley, Kan.

After his military service, Jose moved to Topeka, Kan., working for city of Topeka, and later for Oneok Gas Company as a foreman. In June 1981, Jose moved to Overbrook, where he has lived since. During this time Jose mowed for the township for 13 years.

On Dec. 30, 1977, Jose was united in marriage to Sharon Maghey, in Puerto Rico. They shared more than 42 years of marriage.

Jose is survived by his wife, Sharon Pagan, Overbrook; four sons, Greg Pagan and his wife, Karla, Topeka, Timothy Tillman and his wife, Sabrina, Tecumseh, Kan., Daniel Tillman, Overbrook, and Jose Pagan Jr., Overbrook; two brothers, Titi Cabiya and Miguel Cabiya, and two sisters, Laura Cabiya and Candida Cabiya, all of Ciales, Puerto Rico; and 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 302 S. Boyle St., Scranton, Kan. Interment will follow at Richland Cemetery, Richland, Kan. A rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 730 Western Heights Dr., Overbrook, followed by visitation 6:30-8 p.m.
