Nadine Cowan, 104, Osage City: Sept. 11, 1915 – March 3, 2020

OSAGE CITY, Kan. – Nadine Cowan, 104, passed away March 3, 2020, at Osage Nursing Center, Osage City, Kan. Nadine Lee was born Sept. 11, 1915, in Clayton, N.M., the daughter of Noah C. and Minnie (Dewees) Lee.

She was joined in marriage to Royce McCall Cowan, Nov. 9, 1934, in Ballinger, Texas. To this union, five children were born.

Nadine had worked as a nurse’s aide and was a homemaker to her family. Nadine was a member of the Flint Hills Baptist Church and she also enjoyed flowers, gardening and any outdoor activity.

She will be forever remembered by her daughter, Myrtle Joyce “Sally” Walker, of Mountain View, Ark.; a son, Russell Dean (Sharon) Cowan Sr., Osage City; two daughters-in-law, Linda Cowan, Osage City, and Crystal Cowan, Oskaloosa, Kan.; and 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren.

Nadine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Royce; three sons, Warren Cowan, Houston Cowan and Walter Dale Cowan; three sisters, Melba Louise Lee, Florence O’Delia Seals and Wilma Hearn; and two brothers, Noah Clifford Lee and Amos Earl Lee.

Funeral service will be at 2 Saturday, March 7, at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, Osage City. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Alpine Cemetery, south of Osage City.
