First commodities distributed at new site at senior center

Submitted by Osage County Senior Center Director Byron Jordan

The Osage County Senior Center successfully accomplished its first monthly senior commodity box distribution on July 16. The next commodity distribution will be Aug. 20. This food program is operated by Harvesters Community Food Network and benefits senior citizens throughout Osage County. For qualification information and applications, call 785-528-4906, or stop by the center at 604 Market St., Osage City.

Don’t forget, the nutrition site is putting on an ice cream social the evening of Aug. 1, starting at 5 p.m. Prepare for delicious home-made ice cream and desserts. This fundraising event benefits the Osage City nutrition and Meals-on-Wheels programs.

Please consider cleaning out your closet and bringing in your old shoes to the center for the Royal Family Kids Camp fundraiser. The shoes can be in any condition, since poundage is what matters. The collection box is by the front doors of the center and any donation is appreciated for this worthy cause.
