TOPEKA, Kan. – John S. Bloomquist Jr., 71, Topeka, Kan., passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020. He was born March 19, 1949, in Topeka, the son of John and Margaret “Peg” Bloomquist.

John served his country in the United States Marine Corps, in Vietnam. He had worked at Industrial Chrome for more than 20 years before retiring.

He married the love of his life, Kathleen “Kat”, on June 21, 1997, at Osage County State Lake.

Survivors include his wife, “Kat” Bloomquist, of Topeka; daughters, Christine Crays, Tamy Bloomquist, Renee Bloomquist, all of Topeka; stepchildren, Michelle Hodges-Ryan, Topeka, Trace Freeman and husband, Dennis, Topeka, Tasha Lara and husband, Mike, Havensville, Kan., Travis Ross and wife, Carrie, Wheaton, Kan., Tyler Ross and wife, Nicole, Bern, Kan., and Takla Lundberg and husband, Nathan, Wamego, Kan.; sister, Connie Adams, Topeka; and 16 grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-granddaughter and a step-grandson.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, at Davidson Funeral Home 1035 N. Kansas Ave., Topeka. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4, at Union Cemetery, Osage City, Kan. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10 a.m. Thursday morning.
