John Flynn Jr., 89, Vassar: June 3, 1931 – Aug. 30, 2020

VASSAR, Kan. – John Flynn Jr., 89, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020, at his home on Pomona Lake, near Vassar, Kan. He was born on June 3, 1931, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of John and Gertrude (Huffman) Flynn Sr.

John had lived most of his life in the Kansas City area until moving to Lake Pomona in 1993. He worked for the Board of Public Utilities in Kansas City as a supervisor. He was a member of the Greenwood Baptist Church, near Pomona, Kan.

On March 31, 1980, John was married to Bernice Flynn, in Oklahoma.

John was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Flynn; his parents, John And Gertrude; and two sisters, Margaret Provyn and Louise Saucerman.

John is survived by his wife, Bernice, of the home; son, Larry Flynn, Overland Park, Kan.; daughter, Becky Noone, Kansas City; stepdaughter, Sandy Belknap, Kansas City; and nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Vassar Cemetery.
