OCPR Update: OCHS cheer team coaches up-and-coming cheerleaders

OCPR-logo-redOsage City Parks and Recreation is encouraging young cheerleaders to participate for the OCHS Cheer Camp, with a deadline of Sept. 25 for signup. Also in the works is the annual barbecue contest and community barbecue party, Smoke in the Spring, which has been postponed this year to Oct. 30-31, 2020. The schedule of events is shaping up to include fun for everyone.



OCHS Cheer Camp

Pre-K and Kindergarten, 1st/2nd Grade, 3rd-5th Grade
Camp Instructors, Elizabeth Tice and the OCHS Cheer Team

  • Practice, Sept. 29 and Oct. 1, 6:30-7:30 p.m. (high school football field)
  • Performance, Oct. 2, during high school football Game
  • Cheerleaders will learn – (1) 3 chants  (2) one cheer  (3) the school song cheer
  • Each cheerleader receives a shirt.
  • Dress appropriately for the weather.
  • Camp fee, $20 per student.
  • Signup Deadline – Sept. 25

Smoke in the Spring

Taste of Osage City
Oct. 30, Jones Park
5 p.m. until the food runs out

  • Presented by Edward Jones
  • This is a special community event showcasing Smoke in the Spring BBQ teams.
  • BBQ teams accept BBQ Bucks as payment for food. BBQ Bucks are a dollar for dollar exchange. BBQ Bucks can be reused, from year to year.
