Waneta J. Thompson, 89, Overbrook: March 18, 1931 – Sept. 13, 2020

OVERBROOK, Kan. – Waneta Jean (Peg) Thompson, 89, of Overbrook, Kan., passed away, Sept. 13, 2020, at Brookside Manor, Overbrook. She was born March 18, 1931, at Elm Grove, Kan., east of Ottawa, the only daughter of Robert Harvey Underwood and Daisy May (Brown) Underwood.

Peg grew up in the Ottawa, Kan., area and graduated from Princeton High School with the class of 1949.

On May 27, 1950, Peg was united in marriage to Robert Earl Thompson, in Kansas City, Kan. They lovingly were spent their life together until the death of Robert on Jan. 19, 1999.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cynthia Lee Wilcox; and a granddaughter, Nicole Ray Thompson.

Peg is survived by four sons, Tommy Thompson and his wife, Oma, and Robert Thompson and his wife, Mary, all of Ottawa, and James Thompson and John Thompson, both of Osage City, Kan.; son-in-law, Carl Wilcox, St. Louis, Mo.; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
