Florence Ila Ferdinand, 98, Osage City: Sept. 8, 1922 – Oct. 12, 2020

OSAGE CITY, Kan. – Florence Ila Ferdinand, 98, passed away Monday, Oct. 12, 2020, at Vintage Park, Osage City, Kan. Florence Ila McCreight was born Sept. 8, 1922, on the family farm southwest of Lyndon, Kan., the daughter of Clarence Edgar and Florence Augsta (Umdenstock) McCreight.

Florence graduated from Lyndon High School in 1941.

Florence was joined in marriage to Harold L. “Jack” Ferdinand, Feb. 5, 1950, in Topeka, Kan. She was a farm wife and homemaker on their dairy farm.

Florence was a member of the Miller Methodist Church, and a former member of the Sunshine Club and Admire Women Association.

She will be forever remembered by her daughter, Thelma (William) Thomas, of Allen, Kan.; a son, John (Joy) Ferdinand, Miller, Kan.; and eight grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold “Jack”; a infant daughter, Nancy Jane Ferdinand; two brothers, Irvil McCreight and Carol David McCreight; and five sisters, Edna, Fannie, Edith, Myrtle and Eva.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, Osage City. Burial is to follow at Union Cemetery, Osage City. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at the funeral home.
