David L. McConnell, 69, Osage City: June 24, 1951 – Oct. 15, 2020

OSAGE CITY, Kan. – David L. McConnell, 69, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020, at the Brookside Retirement Community in Overbrook, Kan. He was born on June 24, 1951, in Lincoln, Neb., the son of Lloyd and Gladys Horstman McConnell.

David grew up in Nebraska and graduated from Syracuse High School in 1971. He had been in the Osage City community for many years.

David owned and operated Boondock Mufflers in Osage City from 1991 until retiring in 2014. His hobby was old Fords, Falcons and Galaxies. Most of all, David’s family and his faith in Christ were of the utmost importance to him.

David married Velma Delaney and they raised three sons. They later divorced.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Gladys; and a brother, Jim McConnell.

David is survived by his three sons, Jeremiah (Holly) McConnell, of Osage City, Dr. Malachi (Rachel) O’Brien, Peculiar, Mo., and Eli O’Brien, Wichita, Kan.; brother, Larry (Deb) McConnell, Albuquerque, N.M.; sister, Jackie McDonald, Chanute, Kan.; and five grandchildren, Austin McConnell, Grace O’Brien, Elijah O’Brien, Josiah O’Brien and Ella-Kate O’Brien.

David was cremated and private family services will be held at a later date. Feltner Funeral Home in Lyndon is assisting the family.
