Leona Mabel Lamond, 93, Osage City: June 12, 1927 – Oct. 30, 2020

OSAGE CITY, Kan. – Leona Mabel Lamond, 93, of Osage City, Kan., departed this life, Friday, Oct. 30, 2020, at the Osage Nursing Center, Osage City. She was born June 12, 1927, in Arcadia, Calif., the daughter of William and Mabel (Hoffman) Bishop.

Leona spent most of her life in Osage City, and graduated from Osage City High School in 1945. In addition to the work on the family farm, she worked at the Gamba Brothers Grocery Store, in Osage City. Later, she worked at Hallmark Cards for more than 18 years. Leona was a member of The American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary Post 198, Osage City, and she attended Countryside Baptist Church, Osage City.

On March 24, 1947, Leona was united in marriage to Duane Fred Lamond, in Osage City. They shared more than 63 years of marriage before Duane passed away. To this union they shared four children, Roy, Ray, Rita and Ronda.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Duane, on June 25, 2010; her son, Ray Lamond; son-in-law, Dean Croucher; parents; and two brothers, Verl Bishop and Wilmer Bishop.

Leona is survived by three children, Roy Lamond (Karen), Osage City, Rita Croucher, Osage City, and Ronda Anderson (Brian), Lenexa, Kan.; two brothers, Bill Bishop, Caldwell, Idaho, and Elmer Bishop,  Loveland, Colo.; and eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the Lyndon Cemetery, Lyndon, Kan. Leona will lie in state 2-5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Feltner Funeral Home, Lyndon; the family will not be present.
