Rosabelle ‘Petie’ R. Harris, 92, Scranton: Dec. 13, 1928 – Dec. 16, 2020

SCRANTON, Kan. – Rosabelle “Petie” R. (Herr) Harris, 92, of Scranton, Kan., departed this life on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020, at the Aldersgate Village, Topeka, Kan. She was born Dec. 13, 1928, in Butler, S.D., the daughter of William Fredrick and Diana (Regneir) Herr.

Petie graduated from high school in Grand Rapids, Minn.

On June 14, 1958, at the base chapel at Forbes Field Air Force Base in Topeka, Kan., Petie was united in marriage to Martin Loyd Harris. They shared more than 27 years of marriage before Martin passed away Oct. 8, 1985.

Petie worked most of her life as a waitress and was employed at The Jayhawk Hotel, The Lounge, and Holiday Inn South, and retired from the Coyote Canyon.

Survivors include her son, Kenneth Harris, of Burlingame, Kan.; stepchildren, Darlene Bogren (Neil), Scranton, Marion Harris, Carbondale, Kan., and Carroll Schooler (Ronnie), Scranton; sister, Elaine C. Allen, Meriden, Kan.; brother, Joseph W. Herr, Grand Rapids, Minn.; and 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Petie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martin; daughter, Cynthia Booth, in 2017; stepson, Martin Leigh Harris, in 1977; step-grandson, Brian Harris Smith in 2019; sisters, Florence M. Burt, Olive Hogge, Eloise H. Crumrine, Ione T. Williams, and infant sister Alma Ann Herr; and brother, Lawrence Herr.

Memorial graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at the Scranton Cemetery, Scranton, Kan.
