Gilbert ‘Bud’ Masters, 80, Burlingame: July 7, 1940 – Dec. 14, 2020

BURLINGAME, Kan. – Gilbert E. “Bud” Masters, 80, Burlingame, Kan., went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 14, 2020. He was born July 7, 1940, in Harveyville, Kan., and was raised in Burlingame and lived there his whole life. He was the son of Gilbert L. “Irish” and Mary Ingraham Masters.

He graduated from Burlingame High School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1963. Through high school he worked for Fast Motor Company, which fed his love of driving Pontiacs. Upon return from the Navy, he worked for Martin Marietta, then farmed until he retired. After retirement he was a master daycare grandpa, and folk art craftsman.

He married Nora Mae Powell on Feb. 24, 1967.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Don, Mick and Ruth; and a nephew, Kevin.

He is survived by his wife, Nora Mae; daughters, Julie (Leonard) Bremenkamp, Pam Masters, and Paula (Kevin) Moon; son, Gary Masters; grandchildren, Austin (Brooke), Kaylyn, Lucas, McKrae, Jenna, Brock, and Gideon; and a brother, James, all of Burlingame, and a brother, Terry, of Tucson, Ariz.

Following COVID-19 guidelines, funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at Federated Church, Burlingame. Interment will be at Burlingame Cemetery at a later date. The service will be live streamed on Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home Facebook page for friends unable to attend. The family will meet friends for a visitation 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 503 S. Topeka Ave., Burlingame. Friends are encouraged to wear their Bearcat apparel to the visitation.
