Anita Maichel, 58, Overbrook: June 22, 1962 – Jan. 25, 2021

OVERBROOK, Kan. – Anita Lynne (Jolly) Maichel, 58, of Overbrook, Kan., passed away Monday, Jan. 25, 2021, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka, Kan. She was born June 22, 1962, in Topeka, Kan., the daughter of James A. Jolly and Martha L. (Albright) Jolly.

Anita graduated with the class of 1980 from Santa Fe Trail High School, Carbondale, Kan. She attended Emporia State University, Emporia, Kan.

Anita worked as a claims processor and trainer for Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Topeka, for more than 35 years. She also worked at Four Corners Steak House, Carbondale.

She was united in marriage to George Walter “Mike” Maichel, July 30, 1988. They shared more than 16 years of marriage before the death of her husband on Feb. 22, 2005.

Anita was a dog lover. She enjoyed going with family and friends to watch the Country Stampede Concert. She was an avid KSU Wildcat fan and KC Chiefs fan. Besides fishing, Anita will also be remembered as an expert babysitter and car buying negotiator. She also served as a board member for the Overbrook Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Maichel; and her grandparents, Ernest and Margaret Albright, and James and Edna Jolly.

Anita is survived by her parents, James and Martha Jolly, of Overbrook; companion, John Krewson and Cassie McKinley, Overbrook; four brothers, David (Marlene) Jolly, Ozawkie, Kan., Richard (Terie) Jolly, Carbondale, Jim (Misty) Jolly, Overbrook, and Bruce Jolly, Wichita, Kan.; a sister, Lisa (Joe) Jolly, Carbondale; nine nieces and nephews, Jason, Brian, Jacob, Morgan, Kristi, Lori, Melissa, Monica and Trenton; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

To celebrate Anita’s life, the family will receive friends 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Overbrook Library, Overbrook. Condolences can be left at www.lamb-roberts.com.
