Construction to lift turnpike bridges begins June 1

KTA – A two-year project to increase the vertical clearance of 11 bridges crossing over I-35 and I-335/KTA between mile markers 105 and 161 in Chase, Lyon and Osage counties, was scheduled to begin Tuesday, June 1, 2021, with a bridge located at mile marker 114.6 on I-35/KTA (YY Road, Chase County.)

This project is the fourth round of bridge lifting to take place on the Kansas Turnpike. Construction at each bridge location will take approximately two months to complete, with work occurring at two or more locations at the same time. Each bridge will be lifted to provide at least 15 feet 9 inches of clearance.
