Pauline Winifred Davis, 95, Overbrook: March 16, 1926 – June 1, 2021

OVERBROOK, Kan. – Pauline Winifred (Rhoades) Davis, of Overbrook, Kan., went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 1, 2021, at Rock Creek Long Term Care Facility, Ottawa, Kan. Pauline was born March 16, 1926, at Devon, Kan., the daughter of William Harold and Bertha (Killion) Rhoades.

Pauline grew up in the Ft. Scott and Richmond, Kan., areas.

Pauline was united in marriage to Paul Robert Davis, Aug. 18, 1946, at Mt. Olivet Church, Williamsburg, Kan. They had 69 years of marriage before his death on Nov. 15, 2015.

Pauline and Paul lived for a short time at Wellsville, Kan., and Williamsburg, where they farmed. In the 1960s they moved with their four children southeast of Overbrook, where they had a large dairy and farmed. The family moved in 1967 to Muskogee, Okla., onto the Bacone College campus, where Pauline and Paul were employed by Murrow Indian Children’s Home as foster parents. In the 1970s Pauline and Paul moved back to Paul’s family farm at Williamsburg, where they raised livestock and farmed. They returned to Overbrook in 1987, when they retired.

Pauline was extremely involved in the child foster care system, and she and Paul fostered many children. She was a member of Grace Community Church, Overbrook.

Survivors include their four children, Janet Donnelly and husband, Dennis, of Overbrook, Roger Davis and wife, Kim, Afton Grand Lake, Okla., Harold Davis and wife, Karon, Basehor, Kan., and Paula Smith and husband, Doug, Williamsburg; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Pauline Geiss, Ottawa, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harold and Donald Rhoades; and a foster son, Malvin Dorsey.

A family visitation will be at 10 a.m., Monday, June 7, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. at Grace Community Church, Overbrook. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Williamsburg. The family requests no flowers.
