Osage City Parks and Recreation plans fall programs

With fall approaching OCPR is now gearing up for fall programs.

OSAGE CITY AQUATIC CENTER

–OCAC Pool Hours

—-May 25-August 11, Monday-Friday, 1-8pm, Saturday and Sunday, 1-6pm

—-August 13 – Labor Day, Saturday and Sunday, 1-6pm (includes Labor Day)

–Lap swim, Monday-Friday, 7-8pm

–Daily admission, $3 (Age 4 and above)

–Age 3 and below FREE

–Age 65 and over FREE

–OCAC 50 swim card booklet, $50

–Deck and pool rental reservation can be made with Corey Linton

YOUTH FLAG FOOTBALL

–Divisions — Pre-K/K — 1st/2nd grade — 3rd/4th grade

–OCPR teams participate in the North Osage County Flag Football League

–A player younger than 5 years of age on/before September 1, 2013 are too young for the Pre-K/K Division.

–Teams can start practice the week of August 26, if a coach is assigned to their team.

–League games are played Sundays, starting the middle of September.

–All games are played in either Carbondale or Burlingame.

–Program fee is $30 per player

–Players receive a team shirt, participation award, and equipment is provided by the Carbondale Recreation Association and OCPR.

–SIGN-UP DEADLINE, AUGUST 23

–Sign-up forms will be available at Osage City Hall, sent through the OC Grade School (when school starts), online at www.osagecity.com, or upon request.

YOUTH SOCCER

–Divisions — U6, U8, U10, U12, U14, All Divisions COED

–OCPR teams participate with Overbrook and Appanoose. Games will be rotated between the 3 towns.

–Cost is $30 per player

–OCPR players receive a reversible jersey and mesh shorts, plus a participation award. Players supply their own shin guard and cleated shoes.

–Team practice can start the week of August 16, if a coach is assigned.

–SIGN-UP DEADLINE, AUGUST 16.

–U6 DIVISION

—-Games are 4 v. 4

—-No referee, coaches oversee games

—-4, 8-min quarters

—-Automatic subs at the 4-min mark of each quarter

—-No goalie and no score is kept

—-Size 3 ball

–U8 DIVISION

—-Games are 4 v. 4

—-One referee per game

—-2, 20-min Halves

—-No goalie and score is not kept

—-Size 3 ball

–U10 DIVISION

—-Games are 6 v. 6

—-One referee per game

—-2, 25-min Halves

—-Goalie and score is kept

—-Size 4 ball

–U12 and U14 DIVISIONS

—-Games are 8 v. 8

—-One referee per game

—-2, 30-min halves

—-Goalie and score is kept

—-Size 4 Ball

OCHS CHEERLEADING CAMP

—Camp Instructors – Kylie Baxter and the OCHS Cheer Team

—Camp Location – OC Grade School Gym

—Camp Dates (Wednesdays) – September 4 – 11 – 18 – 25

—Pre-K-1st grade – 6-7:30pm

—2nd-4th grade – 6-7:30pm

—5th-8th grade – 6-7:30pm

—Camp Fee, $25 per person

—Cheerleaders will learn — 3 sideline cheers – one added cheer – the OCHS School Song Cheer

—Each Cheerleader receives a camp shirt

—Recommended practice clothes – shorts, sneakers, socks, t-shirt, no jeans please

—Camp performance – September 27 (OCHS football field)

——Performance with the OCHS Cheer Team during the first half of the game

——Performance dependent upon field availability on September 27

——Alternate performance date – October 4

YOUTH VOLLEYBALL CAMP

–Open to ALL 3rd – 6th graders in the Osage City area

–Players will learn floor positioning, passing, serving, setting, and attacking skills

–All players receive a camp shirt and each 6th grader receives a special OCPR volleyball

–Volleyball Instructors — Tara Durkin and OCHS Volleyball Players

–Session dates and time — Mondays, September 9, 16, 23, 30 and October 7 — 6-7pm

–Location, OC school gyms

–$25 per person

–SIGN-UP DEADLINE, AUGUST 30

YOUTH VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE

–Open to ALL 5th/6th grade volleyball teams in the Osage City area

–OCPR is offering a 5th/6th grade recreational volleyball league for area town teams.

–6 team league max

–Teams play a minimum of 4 matches, each match session is an hour and rally score for each point

–No game score is kept, no standings are kept and no awards handed out

–OCPR supplies the game ball.

–League team fee, $50 per team

–Location, OCHS gym

–League dates and time — Mondays, September 9, 16, 23, 30 and October 7 —7-8pm
