Glenn I. Atwood, 80, Harveyville: Dec. 17, 1940 – Sept. 5, 2021

HARVEYVILLE, Kan. – Glenn I. Atwood, 80, of Harveyville, Kan., died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka, Kan. He was born Dec. 17, 1940, in Harveyville, the son of Irvin Jesse Atwood and Lenora May (Behner) Atwood.

Glenn graduated from Harveyville High School with the class of 1958. Following graduation, Glenn worked for Goodyear Tire & Rubber, Topeka, and on the family farm with his father. Eventually Glenn took over the family farm from his dad and for the rest of his life Glenn was a full-time rancher and farmer.

On Nov. 24, 1963, Glenn was united in marriage to Sharon Fry, at the United Methodist Church, Topeka. They celebrated 57 years of loving marriage this past year.

Glenn was a member of the Harveyville United Methodist Church, and a member of Topeka’s United Steel Workers Union No. 307.

Glenn was a lifelong full time farmer. He was always putting his time towards his family farm. When he was able to get away, he loved the outdoors and spent his time hunting and just enjoying his time with family. His family was his prized possession. They meant everything to him and he worked countless hours to make sure they knew it.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Atwood; and two daughters, Diane Atwood Thompson and Darla Atwood.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Sharon Atwood, Harveyville; two sons, Terry I. Atwood and his wife, Dahlia, and Bill Atwood and his wife, Kim, all of Harveyville; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at Auburn Community Center, 121 W. 11th St., Auburn, Kan. Interment will follow at Auburn Cemetery. The Atwood family will greet friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday Sept. 12, at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 503 S. Topeka Ave., Burlingame, Kan.
