Larry Ray Yockey, 74, Melvern: Aug. 21, 1947 – Sept. 10, 2021

MELVERN, Kan. – Larry Ray Yockey, 74, passed away Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kan. He was born Aug. 21, 1947, in Topeka, Kan., the son of Charles and Frances (Groff) Yockey.

Larry had grown up in Cambridge, Kan., and moved to the Melvern, Kan., area when he was a junior in high school. He graduated from Melvern High School in 1965.

Larry worked for Santa Fe Railroad as a motor car operator, and then worked as a maintenance supervisor for IBP, Ohse Meats, LaSiesta, and Tyson Foods. Larry served as treasurer for eight years on the Agency Township, had been very active with his kids in 4-H, and was a member of the True Grace Community Church, Melvern.

On May 13, 1967, Larry was united in marriage to Nancy Patterson, in Melvern. To this union four children were born.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Frances.

Larry is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 54 years; his four children, Brian (Corinne) Yockey, Lyndon, Kan., Julie (George) Stutzman, Lyndon, Jennifer (Shannon) Bingham, Osage City, Kan., and Kimberly (Brian) DeCavele, Melvern; brother, Garry (Rose Mary) Yockey, Moore, Okla.; and 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, east of Melvern.
