Carbondale says farewell to summer with fall festival Saturday

Carbondale is welcoming the end of another Kansas summer with the town’s fall festival this weekend, Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021. The day of fun features a carnival sponsored by USD 434, concert in City Park, cornhole tournament, car show, color dash, and a community parade.

In addition, the new Carbondale City Library will be the site of a fundraiser book sale in the morning; and other vendors and food trucks will be available downtown. Evening events are highlighted by a “Little Pumpkin” pageant, kids’ games, a street dance featuring Departure, and a beer garden.

Schedule of Events

8-11 a.m.

  • Book sale at Carbondale City Library. Library closing at 11 a.m. to join the parade.

11 a.m. – Parade staging begins at CAC.

  • Noon – 1 p.m. – Parade, Fourth and Main to Second and Main.

1-5 p.m. – City Park

  • Hinck/Kuder concert, 1-3 p.m.
  • Food truck
  • Carnival; sponsored by USD434
  • Cornhole Tournament; Sons of Pitches to coordinate
  • Immediately following parade – vendor/food truck; set up Main Street and Third Street

2- 5 p.m. – Main Street

  • Car Show
  • Vendors/shopping
  • Kid’s open mic on main stage, 3-4 p.m.
  • Food trucks

4- 4:30 p.m. – City Park

  • Color dash; sponsored by SFTHS Kay Club

5-7 p.m. – Main Street

  • Background music/emcee announcements
  • Lil Pumpkin pageant voting
  • Food trucks

7-10 p.m. – Main Street

  • Departure band plays for the street dance
  • Kid games
  • Announce winner of Lil Pumpkin pageant
  • Food trucks

  • Face painting by Jewel, 5-8 p.m.
