High school bands battle it out during fair parade

The Cruzline Percussion Drumline, Topeka, took first place in the Overbrook fair parade Battle of the Bands Saturday evening.

 

 


Three high school bands collected $3,000 in prize money from the Battle of the Bands held during Saturday’s fair parade at Overbrook.

Winning first place and taking home $1,500 was Sal Cruz’s Cruzline Percussion Drumline, Topeka. Second place and $1,000 went to Baldwin City High School marching band. The local Santa Fe Trail High School Charger Band won third place and $500. Due to no more contestants in the battle, fourth place, $300, and fifth place, $200, went unclaimed. All area high school bands were invited to perform in the parade.
