I-35 bridge resurfacing to begin Wednesday

On Wednesday, Aug. 21, the Kansas Department of Transportation expects to begin a resurfacing project on the northbound Interstate-35 bridge over Tequa Creek, in Franklin County. The bridge is located one mile east of the Franklin-Osage county line.

The bridge deck will be milled and then resurfaced with a silica fume overlay. Northbound I-35 traffic will be reduced to one lane with a 55 mph speed limit in the work zone. The bridge project should be finished by late October.

KDOT awarded the construction contract of $176,493 to B&B Bridge Company, LLC, of St. Paul, Kan. David Baldridge, construction engineer at the Garnett KDOT office, reminds drivers to reduce speed, use extra caution, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!”

The preservation project is funded under the T-WORKS transportation program. For more information, contact Baldridge at 785-448-5446, or KDOT Southeast District Public Affairs Manager Priscilla Petersen at 877-550-5368. For more information about T-WORKS projects, visit www.ksdot.org/tworks.
