MELVERN, Kan. – Berniece Wise, 102, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, at Sunset Manor Waverly, Kan. She was born Nov. 23, 1919, in Stanberry, Mo., the only child of Ernest and Mamie O’Bannion Stuart.
They moved to a farm near Waverly, Kan., when she was eight years old. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1937. Berniece was a homemaker.
Berniece was married to Glen Wise, April 24, 1943. They had lived in the Olivet, Kan., community until they moved with their family to Melvern, Kan., in 1963.
Berniece was preceded in death by Glen, on Feb. 14, 1998; and an infant daughter, Gleniece Wise, in January 1945.
Survivors include her son, Randy (Vivian) Wise, Melvern; two daughters, Sue Burkdoll, Melvern, and Sherry Huddleson (Bob), Marysville, Kan.; six grandchildren, Derek and Dustin Wise, Jody Schneweis, Jenny Milliken, Linda Litzenberger, and Bobi Naylor; 12 great-grandchildren, Mayson, Bryson and Ellie Wise, Ava Wise, Trey and Jena McNemee, Aly and Riley Milliken, Beniah and Caleb Naylor and Eric and Anne Litzenberger; and a great-granddaughter, Avery McCorkle.
Family graveside inurnment will take place at Melvern Cemetery at a later date.
