Barbara Jean (Ball) Snyder, 71, Carbondale: June 12, 1950 – Jan. 29, 2022

CARBONDALE, Kan. – Barbara Jean “BJ” Snyder, 71, of Carbondale, Kan., passed away Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at her home. She was born June 12, 1950, in Asheville, N.C., the daughter of Robert and Emma Jean (Holcomb) Ball.

She grew up and attended schools in Carbondale, graduating from the Carbondale High School with the class of 1968.

She was united in marriage to Julian “Lee” Snyder, July 2, 1975, in Miami, Okla. They shared more than 46 years of marriage.

Barbara was a stay at home mom and military wife. Beginning in 2003, she owned and operated Be Jeweled jewelry and gift store located in downtown Scranton, Kan., until 2018. She was a member of the Scranton VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, listening to all genres of music, making jewelry, and will be remembered as a giving and loving supporter to her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, Michelle Mills.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Julian “Lee” Snyder, of the home; son, James “Jim” Mills, of Oklahoma; daughter, Malinda Snyder, Scranton; son, Caleb Snyder, Topeka, Kan.; sister, Linda Kramner, Topeka; two brothers, Robert “Bobby” Bal, Carbondale, and Jeff Ball, of Florida; a grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will also be held at a later date at the Carbondale Cemetery, Carbondale.
