Gladean Mayone Burd, 92, Lebo: Sept. 23, 1929 – Jan. 30, 2022

LEBO, Kan. – Gladean Mayone Burd, 92, passed away Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, at her home in Lebo, Kan. Gladean Mayone Griffin was born Sept. 23, 1929, in Strawn, Kan., the daughter of Veasy Ray and Gladys Eliza (Allen) Griffin.

She graduated from high school in Strawn.

Gladean was joined in marriage to Bobby Dean Burd, June 23, 1948, in Emporia, Kan. To this union, three children were born, Linda, Loy, and Roger.

Gladean was a homemaker for her family. She did work as a bookkeeper for Thompson Trucking and her husband Bob’s business. She and Bob owned and operated the Gamble’s store in Osage City, Kan.

She will be forever remembered by her daughter, Linda (Bob) Dayhoff, of Osage City; a son, Roger Burd, Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Elaine (Dale) Smith, Bozeman, Mont.; son-in-law, Mike Simon, Henderson, Nev.; and nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Gladean was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a daughter, Loy Simon; a grandson, Jesse Burd; and three brothers, Donald Allen, Norman Ray and Otto Kay Griffin.

Family will receive friends 10-11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2022, at Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home, 107 W. 6th St., Lebo. Graveside service will be at 12 p.m. following the visitation at Lincoln Cemetery, Lebo, weather permitting.
