CARBONDALE, Kan – W.L. (Red) Neu, 96, of Carbondale, Kan., passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022. He was born on June 4, 1925, in Block, Kan., the son of Albert and Sophie (Groneman) Neu.
Red served his country in the united states navy during world war II, in the South Pacific, attaining the rank of electronics technician’s mate 3rd class. Following his military service Red worked as a carpenter, an electrician, plumber, and in heating and cooling. He also worked as a road maintainer for the Dragoon Township for 20 years. He was also a cattleman and loved his cows dearly.
He married Mary Lou Sturm, and to that union they were blessed with four children; Teresa Oliver, Brenda Jellison (Chris), Reynold Neu, and Calvin Neu.
He later married Joanne Dickson, May 6, 1991. To this union was born a daughter, Samantha (Tobin) Hoffman. Also surviving Red is a sister-in-law, Donna Neu.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lou; siblings Wesley, Delton, Virgil, and Dema; a son, Calvin; and a grandson Ethan Neu.
Graveside funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Prairie Center Cemetery, Burlingame, Kan.
