John Lucas Stovall, 32, Topeka: Dec. 24, 1989 – April 5, 2022

TOPEKA, Kan. – John Lucas Stovall, 32, Topeka, Kan., passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the Midland Hospice House, Topeka. He was born the son of Mark S. Stovall and Colleen R. Allen on Dec. 24, 1989, in Topeka.

John graduated from Mission Valley High School in 2008. After high school, he entered the workforce as a grocery associate at various grocery stores. His recent employment was at The Home Depot Distribution Center. He was hard worker and after several employment advancements, John became the DC Inventory Control Associate, a position he truly enjoyed.

John loved playing video games, attending rock concerts, and traveling. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Yuna.

On July 1, 2021, John received the terrible news that he had cancer. He faced his prognosis with courage and determination, although he knew it would be an uphill battle. John was always a shining light for his family and friends. We take comfort knowing he fought the good fight, but his suffering has ended. John will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his father, Mark Stovall and his stepmother, Michelle; brother, Matthew Stovall; sister, Haley McVey and husband, Timothy; stepbrother, Dalton Rieck and wife, Gates; stepsister, Anashasta Shockey and husband, Cole; paternal grandparents, Marvin and Mina Stovall; and numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother; and maternal grandparents, Olan and Mary Allen.

Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Saturday, April 16, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Topeka.
