Mildred Grace Walker, 93, Burlingame: July 19, 1928 – April 9, 2022

BURLINGAME, Kan. – Mildred Grace Walker, 93, Burlingame, Kan., passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook, Kan. She was born July 19, 1928, in Iuka, Kan., the daughter of Clinton Mott and Clara (Brown) Mott. Mildred graduated from Mullinville High School, Mullinville, Kan., with the class of 1947.

On May 26, 1953, Mildred was united in marriage to Joseph W. Walker Jr., in Pratt, Kan. They shared 52 years of loving marriage until the death of Joseph in March 2006.

Mildred was a lifelong homemaker and housewife. She was a caring and loving wife, mother, and grandmother and took great pride in her family. She loved especially playing board games with the grandchildren later in life. She was an active Girl Scout leader in her youth and enjoyed helping the young girls in Girl Scouts. Most important to Mildred was that her family knew through her actions that she loved them all unconditionally.

Mildred was a member of the Osage City Church of Christ, Osage City, Kan. She volunteered for the Census Bureau when she was able, and helped with the local newspaper delivery routes occasionally. She was very involved in making arts and crafts. She especially was fond of needlepoint and embroidery.

Mildred is survived by her son, Rance Walker and his wife, Mickie Sue, Burlingame; daughter, Kylin Griffin and her husband, Tim, Burlingame; four grandchildren, Adrian Walker, Topeka, Kan., Amanda Shewey, Atchison, Kan., Ian Griffin, Burlingame, and Reanna Crumpton, Baldwin City, Kan.; and seven great grandchildren, Harper, Timothy, Deacon, Gracelynn, Memphis, Walker, and Holden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Walker Jr.; her parents, Clinton and Clara Mott; and four siblings, Dale Mott, Gene Mott, Eleanor MacClaren, and Dorothy Martin.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at Osage City Church of Christ, 504 Ellinwood St., Osage City. Interment will follow in Burlingame Cemetery, Burlingame. The family will greet friends for visitation 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 503 S. Topeka Ave., Burlingame.
