Work to begin on K-31, K-195 in Wabaunsee County

Update: Start date on the K-31 and K-195 project has been moved to May 12, 2022, weather permitting.

A milling and overlay project in Wabaunsee County is scheduled to begin Thursday, May 12, weather permitting. The project was originally scheduled to begin May 5. The project covers approximately 10 miles of K-31, from K-99 to the Osage County line, and less than one mile of K-195, from K-31 to Harveyville.

According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, traffic will be restricted to one lane in the work zone and will be directed by a pilot car, flaggers, signs and cones. Drivers should plan for delays of up to 15 minutes and add extra time in their travel schedules.

Work will take place Monday through Friday, and Saturdays as needed, during daylight hours. Estimated completion is mid-June.

Shilling Construction Co., of Manhattan, Kan., is the contractor on the $1.55 million project.

KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. For information about all road construction projects in Kansas, see or call 511.
