OCPR Update: Cool off just in time for summer football and golf

OCPR-logo-redIt’s hot and Osage City Aquatic Center is open for cooling off this summer with water aerobics, swim lessons, or just soaking in the refreshing pool. Activities are also heating up for Osage City Parks and Recreation, as it’s time to gear up for youth football and youth golf, with deadlines getting closer. See details below.


Red Cross Swim Lessons

Group swim lesson forms available online at www.osagecity.com, at the Osage City Facebook Page, Osage City Hall. Swim Lesson forms will be available at OCAC.

Private Lessons

  • Session #3, July 18-22
  • Session #4, July 25-29
  • OCAC Staff will contact you about a time during the session selected. Other times may be available (Contact OCAC)
  • $40 per week, per swimmer (One Week=Five, 30-Minute Lessons)

Water Aerobics

Instructor Marcy DeWitt

  • Tuesday & Thursday, 6-7pm
  • Week of June 6 through the Week of August 1
  • $3 per class or One Swim Card

Youth Golf Camp – 3rd-8th Grade Boys & Girls

  • Grade is based on the 2022-2023 School Year
  • OCPR is partnering with Lesli Harmon and the OCHS Golf Teams to provide this Youth Golf Camp
  • Osage City Municipal Golf Course, 1401 South 4th Street
  • July 25-27
  • 9-10:30am – ALL Grades
  • $30 per student

Golf Clubs, students can bring their own to use – or – clubs will be available if you do not own any. This camp will teach fundamentals of the game, including swing mechanics and etiquette.

Turn in forms and payment to Osage City Hall, 201 South 5th Street, the Osage City Municipal Golf Course, or Lesli Harmon.

Youth Football Camp

1st-6th Grade: Grade is based on the 2022-2023 School Year

August 2-4

  • 7-8pm, 1st & 2nd Grade
  • 7-8:45pm (3rd-6th Tackle Players)
  • $15 per player
  • Campers receive a t-shirt

OCPR 3RD/4TH Grade Tackle Football
Players must be USD 420 3rd/4th grade students based on the ‘22-‘23 school year.

  • Team will play in a created league with Burlingame/MV, Santa Fe Trail, Ottawa, Garnett and possibly Council Grove
  • League game will rotate between the league towns on Saturdays, plus there will be a few Wednesday night games, either home or away to create more flexibility and open up more weekends.
  • League Season – September 10 – October 22
  • Weekly Practices Dates and Time determined by the Head Coach, Jordan Tice

OCPR provides – helmet, chin strap, shoulder pads, pants (integrated, all 7 pads sewn in), team jersey and mouth piece (players can choose to use their own mouthpiece). Each player provides their own football shoes, any additional padding or accessories.

PLAYER FEE – $50 PER PLAYER –  Check Payable to “OCPR”. Payment can be split into two, Payment #1 due August 8

OCPR 5TH/6TH Grade Tackle Football
Players must be USD 420 5th/6th grade students based on the ‘22-‘23 school year

  • Team plays in the Emporia Recreation Commission’s 5th/6th grade Football League.
  • Weekly Practice Dates and Time determined by the Head Coach, Mitch Foote
  • ERC League games played at the Football Fields North of Emporia High School
  • ERC SEASON – September 10-October 22

OCPR provides – helmet, chin strap, shoulder pads, pants (integrated, all 7 pads sewn in), mouthpiece (if needed) and team jersey. Each player provides their own football cleats any additional padding or accessories.

5th/6th Grade players MUST PROVIDE A COMPLETED MEDICAL FORM, SIGNED BY A PHYSICIAN (No Exceptions) – Deadline – August 22 – Medical Form is available at the player physical location.

PLAYER FEE – $80 – Check Payable to “OCPR”

Payment can be split into two, Payment #1 is due August 8
