LYNDON, Kan. – Patrina “Tina” Marie Potter, 66, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022, at the University of Kansas St. Francis Hospital, Topeka, Kan. She was born Dec. 17, 1955, in Mondovi, Wis., the daughter of Melvin “Bud” and June (Peterson) Nerby.
Tina had lived in Lecompton, Kan., before moving to rural Lyndon, Kan., in 1996.
On Aug. 28, 1995, Tina was united in marriage to William “Bill” Potter, in Eureka Springs, Ark.
Tina had worked several years in nursing homes as an administrative coordinator. She was a member of the Vassar United Methodist Church.
To know Tina was to know a truly loving and kind soul. Not only would Tina do anything for family and friends, but she would occasionally rescue a pet or two – and sometimes a horse. Tina’s love was infectious, and her smile would light up any room. Tina’s family was most important to her, the special times they would share while making lefse, reminiscing about the past, and just cooking for everyone to gather; these were truly the special times. Tina loved to dance, and was known to cut loose at times, especially to “Ice Ice Baby” on the dance floor where she and Bill started their journey together. The family cannot share enough words to convey how extremely loved Tina is, how she impacted each family member’s life, and how she put everyone else first. As she rejoins her mother and father in the Heavens and watches over us all, her eternal wish is that you seize every opportunity, make the best of every situation, and in the words of her favorite song “I hope you dance!”
Tina was preceded in death by her dad, Bud; her mom and stepdad, June and George Stiehl; and stepbrother, Ray.
Tina is survived by her husband of 26 years, Bill; her son, Patrick Joshua (Lindsay) Heptinstall, of Osage City, Kan.; two daughters, Patrice (Brian) Kelley, Lecompton, and Dee (Josh) Hitchcock, Platte City, Mo.; three sisters, Nancy (Rodger) Rieck, Wabasha, Minn., and Sandy (Leroy) Glomski and Barbara Nerby, all of Alma, Wis.; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life for Tina will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. The family will receive friends 6:30 p.m. until service time. Tina requested that attire be informal if attending the service.
