Lynda Lee Prost, 62, Osage City: April 25, 1960 – Sept. 14, 2022

OSAGE CITY, Kan. – Lynda Lee Prost, 62, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka, Kan. She was born April 25, 1960, in Escondido, Calif., the daughter of William and Martha (Jacobs) Gilchrist.

Lynda had lived in California and Topeka, Kan., for a time, but had spent most of her life in the Osage City, Kan., community.

Lynda was the Burlingame Rodeo Queen in 1975, and graduated from Osage City High School in 1978. She moved to Topeka and worked at Ohse Meats for several years. She worked at Pizza Hut, in Osage City, ran her own daycare, was an assistant to Dr. Murray, in Lyndon, Kan., and then worked as a clerk at the Lyndon City Hall.

Lynda was married to Jay Wilson, June 16, 1990; they later divorced. She married Jeff Prost, Feb. 12, 2011, in Pomona, Kan.

Lynda was preceded in death by her father, William; and her mother and stepfather, Martha and Kenneth Butterfield.

Lynda is survived by her husband, Jeff, of the home; son, James Eric Wilson, Chicago, Ill.; daughter, Hope E. Wilson (Lu), Kansas City, Mo.; brother, Clifford (Donna) Butterfield, Osage City; and her sister, Dee Ann (Michael) Hurla, Maple Hill, Kan.

A celebration of life for Lynda will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. The family will receive friends 9:30 a.m. to service time Thursday. Inurnment will be in the Osage City Cemetery. The family also welcomes people to wear a bright pop of color to the service, as Lynda would enjoy it immensely.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Lynda Prost Memorial Fund, to be designated later. Condolences can be left at feltnerfuneralhome.com.
