OSAGE CITY, Kan. – Kay Frances Wiederholt, 86, of Osage City, Kan., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born March 28, 1936, in Ottawa, Kan., to Harlan and Frances (Talley) Cannady.
Kay graduated from Princeton High School in 1954, and attended St. Mary College, where she obtained her degree in nursing.
On Aug. 6, 1960, Kay was united in marriage to Phil Wiederholt, in Richmond, Kan. To this union, three sons were born, Phil Jr., Paul and John.
Kay continued her career in nursing while lovingly raising her three sons. Kay was an elegant woman, a compassionate caregiver, and an excellent cook. She enjoyed large family gatherings, snow skiing, polka dancing, and travel.
Kay was preceded in death by her youngest son, John, in 1989; parents, Harlan and Frances; and her youngest sister, Karen Cannady.
Kay is survived by her husband, Phil, of 62 years; two sons, Phil Jr., Osage City, and Paul, Overland Park, Kan.; four grandchildren, Jamie (Travis) Krueger, Amanda Marie Wiederholt, John Wiederholt and Joey Wiederholt; two great-grandchildren, Summer and Tigg; five siblings, Jim (Beverly) Cannady, MaryAnn (Marvin) Zielsdorf, Arlene (Gary) Coon, Ila Bethel, and Tom (Debbie) Cannady; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Osage City. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Osage City. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon, Kan.
