Timoteo Lira, 101, Osage City: Feb. 23, 1921 – Nov. 5, 2022

OSAGE CITY, Kan. – Timoteo Lira, 101, passed away, Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, at his daughter’s home in Kansas City, Mo. Timoteo was born Feb. 23, 1921, in Osage City, Kan., the son of Nicolas and Gabriela (Moreno) Lira.

He graduated from Osage City High School in 1942. After high school, he served in the United States Army during World War II.

He was joined in marriage to Gladys Romero; she preceded him in death in 1971.

Timoteo worked in maintenance for the Santa Fe Railroad, and retired in 1981. He was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and American Legion Post 198, in Osage City.

He is survived by his daughter, Maria (Dennis) Nelson, Kansas City, Mo.; a son, Joseph Lira, Overland Park, Kan.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his dog, Tiny.

Timoteo was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; four sisters; and three brothers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 309 S. Sixth St., in Osage City. Family will receive friends 9:45-10:15 a.m. at the church. Rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. before service. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
