- At 11:27 p.m. March 10, 2023, an Osage County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop at East 325th Street and state Highway 31, near Melvern, Kan., for a traffic violation. During the stop, a K-9 was deployed, and narcotics were located. The driver of the vehicle, Rodney L. Purcell, 59, Melvern, was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and transporting an open container.
- At 3:49 p.m. March 13, 2023, an Osage County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop at 113th Street and Topeka Avenue, near Carbondale, Kan., for a traffic violation. During the stop, narcotics were located. The driver of the vehicle, Robert W. Smith, 53, of Burlingame, Kan., was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended, and no proof of liability insurance.
