This week the Kansas Department of Transportation began work on a mill and overlay project on state Highway 68 in Franklin County. The 12-mile project begins at the Osage-Franklin county line and runs east through Pomona, ending at the west city limits of Ottawa.
Flaggers and a pilot car will guide one-lane traffic through the work zone during daylight hours; expect delays of 15 minutes or less. Weather permitting, the road work should be finished by July.
KDOT awarded the construction contract of $4 million to Bettis Asphalt & Construction Inc., Topeka.
